Changelog

Changes to the rules and calculations on this site, newest first.

Calculation updates: Michigan and Pennsylvania now reduce child care costs by the federal child and dependent care credit; California net income now includes the California Earned Income Tax Credit (matching the state calculator at low incomes); Kentucky now shares extraordinary medical costs above the yearly threshold; interest on arrears is now verified for Delaware and Maryland.

States: Michigan, Pennsylvania, California, Kentucky, Delaware, Maryland

New data asset: child support amounts by state, the guideline amount for the same families in every state with a free CSV. Four more guides (twins and multiples, when your income changes, private school tuition, moving out of state), and every state page now links a set of the newer guides.

Four more guides: child support and Social Security benefits, overtime, bonuses and commissions, retroactive child support, and child support for adult children with disabilities.

Four more guides: remarriage and a new spouse, child support when a parent is incarcerated, child support and bankruptcy, and how child support is paid. The federal child support office is now named by its current official name, the Office of Child Support Enforcement.

Five new guides: the average child support payment (official Census and federal figures with computed state amounts), child support for one child by state, what child support covers, paternity and child support, and agreeing on child support without going to court.

Utah: added the guidelines that apply to orders entered or modified from January 1, 2027, which add a minimal child care award for each child under 13, based on the parents' combined income and the child's age. Enter the children's ages for the exact amount.
