Embed the child support calculator
Family law practices, legal aid groups, libraries and parenting sites can put this calculator on their own pages for free. Visitors pick the number of children, who the children live with and both parents' incomes, and see the guideline amount under their state's current guidelines, worked out the same way as on this site.
What visitors see
The embedded calculator keeps to the essentials: the state, the number of children, who the children mostly live with, and each parent's gross income in whatever pay period they know. The result shows the guideline amount a month, which parent pays, how the amount adds up, and the same "estimate, not legal advice" note as the rest of the site. Add-ons such as child care, health insurance, parenting time adjustments and other children are left out to keep the widget short; a link under the result opens the full calculator for the state in a new tab.
Nothing is stored. The widget sets no cookies and loads no advertising or analytics beyond an anonymous page view count, so it doesn't change your own site's privacy obligations. It follows the visitor's light or dark setting unless you choose one.
Preview and copy the code
Choose a state to fix the widget to it, or "All states" to let visitors pick. Then copy the code and paste it into your page's HTML where the calculator should appear.

Options
- State: add
?state=and the state's name in lowercase with hyphens to the address, as the code above does (for example?state=new-york). Without it, visitors choose their state. - Colours: add
theme=lightortheme=dark(for example?state=texas&theme=dark) to fix the colour scheme; otherwise the widget follows the visitor's device setting. - Size: the widget is responsive up to 520 pixels wide. Keep the height at least 640 pixels so the result shows without scrolling inside the frame.
Terms of use
The widget is free for any site, including commercial ones. Please keep the "Calculator by HowMuchChildSupport" credit line under it, don't present the results as legal advice or as your own official figures, and don't place it in a way that suggests we endorse your services. Guideline changes reach every embedded copy automatically when we update a state's rules. Questions or problems: hello@howmuchchildsupport.com or thecontact page.
